Monthly Favorites: July!

Fashion

Ralph Lauren tote bag {shop similar here}. So my dream bag is a Louis Vuitton Neverfull however, these bags are outrageously expensive! The bag I linked looks so similar to a LV bag! So while I was with my aunt, Erika, she actually gave me this bag! It is the same size as a Neverfull bag and so much cheaper (especially for me as a hammy-down 😉 )! I use it when I need a larger bag, like when I go to work! It fits my iPad, agenda, magazines, book, and more! It really is perfect!

V-necks {shop 1, 2, 3} My 2 favorite places to get simple basic tees from are American Eagle & TJ Maxx. I love AE’s because they have the soft & sexy line and they are so extremely comfortable. I love the ones from TJ Maxx because they are very affordable and there are so many choices.

High waist shorts {shop here and here} I prefer high-rise bottoms opposed to the low-rise. They are so much more comfortable to me and I find them more flattering for my body shape. I have very long legs & not much of a butt so I think they are perfect. I love that I can wear them with any type of shirt! I only wear cropped shirts when I have on high-rise pants or shorts so it is ideal!

Beauty

Becca + Jaclyn Hill Face Palette Limited Edition {shop here}. I use this every single day! I was a little unsure about purchasing it since I already have the Cheek-A-Thon Palette from Benefit but the 2 highlighters in this are to die for! I am so happy I was able to snag it before it sold out! I usually debate whether I need it or not for too long and then they sell out.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss in St. Tropez {shop here} {read my post about it}. This gloss is absolutely beautiful. It is very pigmented so it is all you need! It feels so good and rehydrating on my lips and looks amazing! This color would look good on ANY skin tone!

Bath & Body Works Pretty as a Peach Body Splash {shop here}. This smells sooo good! I don’t feel like putting on a heavy perfume everyday, especially in the summer, so this is perfect! I have been using it like crazy.

Lush Lip Service {shop here}. I suffer from dry lips, especially from wearing so many lip products! I do not usually wear this during the day. Every night after I use my Lip Scrub I use this lip balm. It is so moisturizing and really makes your lips feel refreshed when you wake up in the morning!

Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bon Palette {shop here}. I got this palette last month and I really started using it in July. I love the selection of colors and the pinks! Pink is my favorite color so I wear it a lot and it is great to have an eye shadow palette that I can create several looks to go with it!

Lifestyle

Store: TJ Maxx This store is seriously amazing! It is always the first store I go to when I need something because I am sure to find it there at a great price. They have everything from clothes, purses, makeup, home decor, and more. They carry so many different brands including some name brands, at a much lower price! I get so many of my things here, I am in love.

Book: Looking for Alaska {shop here}. I kind of lacked on reading books in July and only read one. This book had a great ending but it took me 100 pages to actually get into the book. But once I got into it I was hooked and couldn’t put it down! I loved it and I am really hoping they turn it into a movie.

Peony Petals Candle {shop here}. I love this candle, it is such a sweet and floral scent. Candles are awesome and so relaxing and they are so much better when they are a great scent! Don’t buy from the site though, they are seriously SO much cheaper at TJ Maxx!! I got mine for $2.99!

Kylie Cosmetics Review + Tips on getting them before they’re gone!

As many other people, I am totally into the Kylie Cosmetics line. I have been trying out 3 lip kits for over a month now and it is safe to say that I am in love. They are absolutely phenomenal. The lip liner is so creamy and really is a good starting point. The liquid lipstick smells like vanilla cupcakes and glides on so easily! You have to be careful though, it dries quick so if you make a mistake you have to fix it ASAP! The nice thing about the liquid lipsticks are that they are so pigmented that you don’t even have to apply liner first, but I do! Yes the lip kits are $29 but you have to keep in mind that you are receiving a liquid lipstick and a lip liner! Again, keep in mind that products will differ slightly on people according to their skin tone. I am super fair so how they look on me may be different for someone with olive toned skin!

The lip kits I originally purchased are Posie K, Candy K, and Koko K.  I decided I was going to purchase more after trying some out. Once she said she was releasing new colors, I knew I needed them! When the Kristen & Maliboo Lip Kits released for the first time, I was able to snag them before they sold out in 8 minutes!!! I also picked up the Koko gloss because the matte version is my favorite.

She has several colors I am dying to try like Mary Jo K, Exposed, Ginger (brand new), and more! As I am typing this post (Monday July 25) she just announced that she would be releasing a bronze eye shadow collection. Are you going to purchase it?

Tips For Buying Them Before They’re Gone

If you have been trying to snag some of the lip kits but have been unsuccessful, I have a few tips for you to try! Both times that I went on the site, I was able to purchase the ones I had my eyes on before they sold out.

  1. After you get on the page, do not keep refreshing! Everyone is on the site at the same time so it is going to be slow. If you select a product and refresh, you may lose it!
  2. Have your credit card information already filled in. On an iPhone you are able to fill in your credit card information in settings so you do not need to rush to type it in. This was a crucial step that made buying the products easy for me!
  3. Have a game plan. Do not get onto the site right when they release and expect to be able to browse through the kits to decide on one. You really need to decide before they are released to guarantee you will get your item. They literally sell out in minutes! (More people have gotten their hands on them so the older kits do not sell out as fast now).
  4. Follow the Instagram. When I want to purchase a new product I make sure to check out the official Kylie Cosmetics Instagram page to check for restock dates. If you do not see them on that page, there are plenty of pages dedicated to telling the release dates. All you have to do is  type “Kylie Cosmetics Restock Date” that in the search bar! Don’t forget that the release dates are set to California time, so see what time that is in your time zone. (Mine is 3 hours behind, so when they restock at 3 pm in Cali, they don’t restock until 6 pm in Ohio).

Have any additional tips or questions? Make sure to let me know in the comments down below!

Also let me know if you want to see any swatches or to see the products on me! 🙂

Closet Staple: Floral!

I am back with another one of my closet staples, floral! Floral is awesome because you can do so many things with it! It comes in so many different colors and styles that there really is no way to go wrong. If you like to go crazy you can find pieces that have intense designs with lots of colors or you can stay simple and find a pattern with fewer flowers and colors.

I love styling my floral by wearing simple top/bottoms and a designed piece like I did in outfit 1 and 2. Another way I style floral is by wearing it as the statement in either a dress or romper. My favorite outfit that I put together has to be outfit 1. I love the white jeans with the sheer top. It has just enough color to really make it pop. I am dying over the fact that it was found at Goodwill (it’s actually my mom’s top!). I am not kidding when I say a ton of my clothe are from Goodwill. If you have the patience, I highly suggest you stop by a local one and see what kind of treasures you can dig up! My mom & I are super thrifty and always looking for a good deal!

{If you want some additional ways to style stripes make sure to head over to my polyvore account!}

Sephora Play! Review: July 2016

This is my first month receiving the Sephora Play! glam bag. I had signed up a month ago and just recently was taken off of the wait list. I had never heard of this subscription service before but I had seen great reviews for it online. I was so excited when I found out that I was off the wait list! This month, subscribers would receive one of two bags; A or B. I received bag B. I am so happy with my bag, I will definitely be keeping my subscription to Sephora Play!

The Sephora Play! bag is a monthly subscription glam bag, like Ipsy, and is only $10 as well. Your $10s gets you 5 products that are sold in Sephora plus a perfume sample and a bag. The monthly payment is taken from your account automatically unless you cancel your subscription. The thing that I dislike about this glam bag is that you do not get the items customized to you. When subscribed to Ipsy, you take a quiz so they are able to learn about you, your desire to explore with makeup, your skin tone, and more. The Sephora Play! bag is random. I know in previous months every subscriber has gotten the same thing in some bags and other months there will be a mix.

Look inside my bag!

The bag is so cute! I don’t know what to usually expect, but for a first time I am impressed. It is a little cinch bag that ties with a ribbon. The design is a pink popsicle with pink lips. The bag is a decent size, it definitely fits all the products in.

Benefit Cosmetics Dew the Hoola Soft Matte Liquid Bronzer

I was ecstatic when I saw this product! I use the Hoola bronzer from Benefit and it is safe to say I am obsessed. I am looking forward to testing out the liquid version of the product. Hopefully I will love it as much as the pressed powder! Full size: 1 oz. Sample in bag: .16 oz {Shop here!}

Smashbox Iconic Photo Finish Foundation Primer

This is a great product to receive in a subscription service! I actually already have this product. I have only used it a few times but so far I like it. I am not complaining about receiving another one though, it’s always great to have backups! Full size: .5, 1, or 1.7 oz. Sample in bag: .25 oz. {Shop here!}

beautyblender blotterazzi™ by beautyblender®

I was also happy when I saw that I received this! I had heard about it before but had not bought them. I just recently caved and bought the beautyblender sponge to apply my liquid products and I love it! It is definitely something I will be repurchasing. I could rave about it forever! I am not someone who suffers from oily skin but I am sure I will still use this product! Full size: 2 sponges + case. Sample in bag: 1 sponge + sample size liquid blender cleanser. {Shop here!}

Ouai Wave Spray

The sample of this product is great! It is the size of a travel sized hair item so it is perfect. I love hair products and testing new ones out so I was definitely excited to see this item in my bag. Full size: 5 oz. Sample in bag: 1.7 oz. {Shop here!}

First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser

I don’t tend to stray much in facial cleansers or moisturizers for my face because my skin is so extremely sensitive. This product is awesome to be receiving in a subscription service, I do not know how much use I will get out of it though. I will have to test it out and see how my skin reacts to it, and if I have no problems I may repurchase it! Full Size: 1, 2, 5, or 8 oz. Sample in bag: 1 oz. {Shop here!}

The perfume sample: NEST Citrine

It is awesome that they include this as an additional item! I get perfume samples so often I would not want them to be included as part of the bag but since it is an addition it is great! I do like this perfume but it is very strong for me. I don’t think I would purchase the full size. Full Size: .27 or 1.7 oz. Sample in bag: .04 oz {Shop here!}

Sephora Play! Card

Each month in your box you receive one of these cards. When you take this card in stores you receive 5o extra points! Unfortunately, you can’t do it online. That would be ideal since my closest Sephora is 45 minutes away. You can also get tips and one-on-one advice from beauty experts when you show this card. It expires at the end of the next month, so you will have to be quick!

Ipsy Review: July 2016

So I am actually new to the world of Ipsy, June was the first month that I received an Ipsy bag! I have heard a ton about it and I finally decided to give it a shot! I am newer in the makeup world. A few months ago I used whatever makeup my mom bought me from CVS. Now I am {slightly} obsessed with Sephora (I am receiving my first Sephora Play! box this month as well, should I do a review on it?). I figured that a subscription box would be the perfect way to test out some new products without spending a lot.

What is Ipsy you ask? Ipsy is a monthly ‘glam bag’ subscription service that costs $10 a month and is automatically charged from your account unless you cancel it. When you sign up online you will take a quiz so that your bag can be totally customized to the type of makeup you like and it will match your skin tone! Each month you will receive a bag with 5 products inside. If you are interested in signing up, click here!

Look inside my bag!

I absolutely LOVE this months bag. This picture does not do it any justice. The bag is holographic so it shines in the light.

theBalm Cosmetics
Meet Matt(e) Trimony Eyeshadow in Matt Kumar

I am very excited to test out this eye shadow! First off, it’s adorable!! It comes in this tiny little package (like a book). It is a beautiful color and will look great on everyone! I have heard great things about theBalm so I can’t wait to try it out. {Shop here}

Eva NYC
Get Glossed! Hair Serum

I have never heard of this company before receiving the product. I was very happy to get this in my Ipsy bag because hair products are so expensive. A serum will be great to put on the tips of my hair to get that perfect shine! {Shop here}

tre’StiQue
Mini Highlight Stick in Maldives Luminescent

I was excited when I saw this item. When I opened it though, the actual product fell out of the container. I was very dissapointed. I talked to my friend and she had the same thing happen. I was able to put it back in but it is a little loose now. But a highlighter is still a highlighter so I am looking forward to trying this out! {Shop here}

ModelCo
POWERLASH Black Mascara

You can never go wrong with a black mascara. This was another company that I was unfamilair with. Receiving travel size items like this are awesome because you will never run out! {Shop here}

Luxie Beauty
Luxie Rose Gold Small Angle Eye Brush 215

A girl can never have enough makeup brushes. Especially a pink one with rose gold! I was actually in the market for a small angled brush so this came just in the knick of time! {Shop here}

Each person’s bag is customized to fit them specifically! If you want to see the other products that were in July’s bag, click here!

Treat Yo’ Self

There’s nothing like a day of treating yourself. Whether it be a day where you go out with some of your girl friends or just staying in. I have some tips for doing both!

Shop my outfit: Top. Bottoms. Purse. Bracelets. Similar Watch (mine is from TJ Maxx).

When I stay in there are a few things that I love doing for myself. You can either spend the day by yourself or you can invite over your friends. The most obvious thing you need in order to treat yourself are treats! If you like to indulge, go out and get some Ben & Jerry’s. If you prefer to eat something that will make you feel good inside, eat some watermelon or strawberries!

The next thing on my list are masks. I am very into sheet masks right now. You can buy them almost anywhere, but my favorite are from Sephora. You can find them here! They look insane on but they are so amazing! You only have to wear them for 15 minutes and when you take them off you don’t even have to rinse your face. While I am wearing it I will read a book (I am currently reading Looking for Alaska) or catch up on some YouTube videos. There are sheet masks for your face, hands, lips, etc,. I love the sheet masks for your lips (here)! They are sold out online right now but I am able to find them in stores. They are so hydrating and feel spectacular after wearing heavy lip products.

Another way to pamper yourself is with mani/pedis. You can go out and get one or you can do them yourself (which I recommend). If you can do it yourself or have a friend do it, there’s no reason to spend money. There are so many videos on YouTube with awesome ideas and don’t forget about Pinterest (my nail board)! Here are some of my favorite videos for painting your nails (1, 2, 3,). Make sure to check out all of the videos by Cute Polish.

If you are sick of being home and just need to get out of the house, there are plenty of things to do! A personal favorite of mine is retail therapy AKA shopping! So I love to plan a day to go out and shop til I drop. This requires a full day for me since I have to travel for any stores! However, this is not something that I can do that often. So there are several other options that aren’t as expensive.

Movies! You can find a movie at a theater in every town. My favorite types of movies are comedies! I am really looking forward to seeing Bad Moms and The Secret Life of Pets. If you are spending a day with your girls, romance movies are always a top pick. There is no popcorn as good as movie popcorn! So grab some there or sneak in some snacks in your big bag, that’s what I do. 😉 This is be super cheap if you only buy your tickets at the movie, but if you feel like splurging- buy that large popcorn & drink girl!

Go on a coffee date! Whether it is Starbucks or your towns local coffee shop. (My favorite Starbucks drink is the Java Chip Frappuccino [diy here] & my favorite local drink is a frozen hot chocolate with a pump of marshmallow). You can go with a friend and catch up or you can take your laptop to work on things or a good book to read. It is a nice relaxing thing to do that only costs around $5. Totally worth it!

Exercise. I know a lot of people, me included, would not consider this as a ‘treat’ but it can be! Now you can go to the gym and get a crazy workout or watch YouTube videos and do an at home workout. I love to go on walks or bike rides with my friends or mom. I live right down from the park so we walk there. You can also go for a walk with your dogs! Depending on where you go/what you do, this can be completely free!

Shop my outfit: Bottoms. V-neck. Similar Jacket (mine is in ghost herringbone). Shoes are custom Nike Roshes.

**You can do any of these things at home or out of the house! You can watch a movie at home, make your own coffee, and get a facial done by a professional. These are just my personal favorite things to do!

My Lip Gloss is Popping

In the summer I like my lips to have a nice glossy finish. Don’t get me wrong, this girl loves her matte lips, but in the summer time gloss just suits me better. My go to glosses this summer have to be the Anastasia Beverly Hills Mini Lip Gloss set. For only $28 (yes, 28 dollars!), you get 6 mini lip glosses. These mini glosses have .07 oz of product each. A full size gloss is $16 and has .16 oz of product. I have never tried any Anastasia lip products before this and wow am I impressed.  Lip products are my personal favorite type of makeup. You can never have too many! So if you want to dip your toes into some high-end lip glosses, I highly suggest these.

Each gloss smells like vanilla, my favorite scent! These lip glosses are opaque and have tons of pigment that leave a glossy shine. I love that they are full coverage because it means that is all I need to throw in my purse for the day, no liner or any extras! Of course if you want you can wear a lipstick under it, totally up to you! The best part is that each of the glosses that come in this kit are new!

St. Tropez – Iridescent rose gold {my favorite}
Tango – Crushed berry
Blushing – Soft pink
Grape Jelly – Vivid blue purple
Toffee – Light warm brown
Caramel – Soft, pink-y brown {also a favorite}

     I love the applicator. I prefer this flat sponge applicator opposed to the brush applicators. It makes for a flawless application! You can outline your lips perfectly. When looking at the swatches I have posted, keep in mind that products look different on every person depending on their skin tone!

Going from the top down: Toffee, Tango, Blushing, St. Tropez, Caramel, Grape Jelly.
